WHAT IS A SUBJUNCTIVE TRIGGER?
A subjunctive trigger is like a signal that tells you when to use the subjunctive mood in a sentence. These triggers usually (but not always) show situations that aren’t real, like wishes, demands, or hypothetical scenarios.
When you use these triggers, they basically tell you that the verb after them should be in the subjunctive mood. So, just remember that subjunctive triggers don’t actually go in the subjunctive mood themselves, they just show that the verb that comes after them should be in this mood.
As usual, I want to make things as simple and straightforward as possible for you, so here’s a complete list of subjunctive triggers.
