WHAT IS THE SIMPLE FUTURE?
The simple future (futuro simple), as its name shows, is the simplest way to talk about the future. In English, we merely add will to the verb root:
I will eat fish.
It’s use in Spanish is mostly the same as in English, with a few exceptions. But, basically, we don’t need to waste our time studying useless rules.
CONJUGATION
The simple future of regular verbs is formed by adding the following personal endings to the full infinitive. It’s the same for verbs ending in ar, er or ir. Let’s take hablar as a model. Listen to Alicia, from Ecuador:
Person | Conjugation |
---|---|
yo | hablaré |
tú | hablarás |
usted | hablará |
él ella | hablará |
nosotros nosotras | hablaremos |
ustedes | hablarán |
ellos ellas | hablarán |
vos | hablarás |
vosotros vosotras | hablarÉis |
Now let’s see a few sentences using the simple future:
Mañana yo comeré pizza.
Tomorrow I will eat pizza.
Tú viajarás a China.
You will travel to China.
Ellos estudiarán español.
They will study Spanish.
